About Us

Whether we were borne out of an actual need, too many coffees, or just a few crazed minds isn't the important part here.

Though, it was most likely the latter.

Started in early 2014, The Saint Mercury Project was created to help bring some form of sense to the political field of America. Focusing on the largest group since the baby boomers, Generation Y, or Millennials depending on who you talk to, a group whose focus isn't on the next election but more on what the Kardashians are going to do next.

Though started by liberals (with socialist leanings), this page will strive to remain un-biased - giving out the facts as we've found them. We aim not to tell you who or what to vote for, but give you the information needed to make an informed decision.

Our name stems from our purpose: Stop The Hunger Games (STHG). The Hunger Games has recently become a hit book and movie series, which, if you look closely enough, could become the future for America. Those in charge created the Games to keep the weak in line amongst the districts, knowing an uprising could tear them down. If the youth don't stand up for themselves and those without a voice, then the same thing will happen to them.

A similar, bloodier, version can also be seen in a book published nearly ten years before Suzanne Collins' hit, the Japanese novel by Koushun Takami called Battle Royale. In it, the government has passed the Millennium Educational Reform Act, or BR Act, out of a fear of the youth of the nation. A class is chosen, at random, and placed on an island with a bag of supplies and told they have to kill each other until only 1 survives. The BR Act came after high unemployment and a youth uprising showed a lack of support in the government.

Across the world teens and young adults are uprising against their government and those in charge. In America, we're getting angry over how the Kardashians have been treated and the lack of religious information on a science show. It's time for the youth of America stand up, and at the very least mail in their ballots.
